EBSource respects intellectual property rights and expects others to do the same. This Copyright and DMCA Policy (“Policy”) explains how copyright owners, or their authorized representatives, can notify us about material on ebsource.com (“the Site”) that they believe infringes their rights, and how we handle such notices.
This Policy sets out a clear and consistent process for copyright-related notices. It follows the general process used for notices submitted under the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512, where applicable, as well as other copyright laws that may apply, including the Copyright Act (Canada). EBSource operates from Canada, and nothing in this Policy limits any rights, remedies, or defences available to either party under Canadian law or any other applicable law.
1. Ownership of EBSource Content
Unless otherwise stated, the articles, guides, graphics, page layouts, tables, explanations, original research, examples, calculators, and other materials published on the Site (collectively, “Content”) are owned by EBSource, its parent or affiliated companies, or its licensors.
You may not copy, reproduce, republish, scrape, redistribute, sell, modify, or create derivative works from our Content without prior written permission, except where expressly permitted by this Policy or by applicable law, such as fair dealing under the Copyright Act (Canada) or fair use under U.S. law.
2. Permitted Use of Our Content
You may link to pages on the Site and quote brief excerpts for commentary, research, news reporting, or reference purposes, provided that you:
- Clearly identify EBSource as the source;
- Include a direct link to the original page on ebsource.com;
- Do not present our Content as your own;
- Do not copy substantial portions of an article, guide, calculator, table, or page; and
- Do not use our Content in a misleading, deceptive, or unlawful way.
For permission to use our Content beyond what is described above, please contact us at dmca@ebsource.com.

4. Information to Include in a Copyright Notice
To help us review your claim promptly, your notice should include:
1. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed. If your claim involves multiple works, you may provide a representative list.
2. The exact URL or location on the Site where the allegedly infringing material appears.
3. Your name, company name if applicable, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
5. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, where applicable, made under penalty of perjury, and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the copyright owner’s behalf.
6. Your physical or electronic signature. For online submissions, typing your full legal name is accepted as an electronic signature.
If a notice does not include enough information for us to identify the allegedly infringing material or verify the claim, we may request additional information before we review or act on it, which may delay our response.
5. How We Review Copyright Notices
When we receive a complete copyright notice, we will review the material identified and may take appropriate action. This may include removing or disabling access to the material, editing it, or leaving it in place, depending on the circumstances and applicable law.
Submitting a notice does not guarantee that material will be removed. EBSource may decline to act on notices that are incomplete, inaccurate, abusive, fraudulent, or unsupported by sufficient information. Removing or disabling access to material in response to a notice is not an admission that the material infringed anyone’s copyright.
We aim to acknowledge complete notices and respond within a reasonable time, although the time required may vary depending on the complexity of the claim.
6. Counter-Notification
If the material you submitted was removed or disabled because of a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notification to dmca@ebsource.com.
Your counter-notification should include:
1. Identification of the material that was removed or disabled, and its location on the Site before removal.
2. Your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
3. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of a mistake or misidentification, and, where applicable, that the statement is made under penalty of perjury.
4. Any additional statement required by the copyright law under which the original notice was submitted, including any required statement about jurisdiction or service of process.
5. Your physical or electronic signature.
After receiving a valid counter-notification, EBSource may forward it to the party who submitted the original notice and may, where appropriate and permitted by law, restore the material.
7. Good-Faith Actions
To the fullest extent permitted by law, EBSource will not be liable to any user, contributor, or third party for removing, disabling access to, or declining to restore material in a good-faith response to a copyright notice or counter-notification.
8. Repeat Infringer Policy
EBSource may restrict, suspend, or terminate access for users, contributors, contractors, or third parties who repeatedly submit or provide material that infringes copyright.
This Policy applies to any user-generated content, contributor material, guest content, submitted Content, or third-party material that may appear on the Site.
9. Misrepresentation
Please make sure your copyright notice or counter-notification is accurate before submitting it. Knowingly submitting a false, misleading, or bad-faith claim may result in legal consequences, including liability for damages, under applicable law.
If you are unsure whether material on the Site infringes your copyright, you may wish to seek independent legal advice before submitting a notice.
10. Not Legal Advice
This Policy describes our process for handling copyright notices. It is provided for informational purposes only and is not legal advice. If you have questions about your rights or obligations under copyright law, please consult a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction.
11. Changes to This Policy
EBSource may update this Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
12. Governing Law
This Policy is governed by applicable Canadian law, except where a notice is submitted under and is governed by another jurisdiction’s law.
